Diy Velvet Mushrooms

These cute little mushrooms are easy and fun to make! You can decorate with them, give them as gifts, or use them in other arts and crafts projects! To make them you will need the following...

  • Felt fabric
  • Velvet fabric
  • Stuffing
  • A needle and thread
  • A hot glue gun
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
Step 1
Cut your velvet and cardboard into two circles. The circles can be any size as long as the velvet circle is about twice the size of the cardboard circle.

Step 2

Take your needle and thread and sew around the edges of the velvet circle using a running stitch. But don't tie the thread yet! You will need to be able to pull on the ends of the thread to close your mushroom.

Step 3

Next, get your cardboard circle and stuffing. Then take the ends of the thread and pull them together like a drawstring bag. Close the top of the mushroom part way leaving enough space to put in the stuffing and cardboard.

Step 4

Take your stuffing and put it in the velvet circle. Then place the cardboard on top of the stuffing. Try to get as much of the stuffing as you can under the cardboard for the best results.

Step 5

Pull the thread together the rest of the way leaving a little space for the stem. Then tie the ends of the threads together. Good job! You have finished the top of your mushroom!

Step 6

Now on to the mushroom stem! Cut your felt fabric into a long rectangle. You may want to hold the fabric up next to the mushroom top to see how long you want the stem to be.

Step 7

Next, roll up your felt rectangle leaving a little space at the end. Then put hot glue on the end of the felt and finish rolling up the stem.

Step 8
Last step! put a dab of hot glue on the cardboard in the mushroom. Then place the end of the stem against the glue and hold it there until it drys.

Congratulations! You have finished making your velvet mushroom!

If you want to spice up your mushroom, you can add a few beads to the top or pair it with some moss. I hope you enjoy your new mushroom!
